Apple plans to launch its cheaper MacBook 2026 in early 2026. The device will feature an iPhone-class chip, marking a significant shift from the usual M-series chips. This move allows Apple to offer a budget-friendly MacBook to compete with Chromebooks and budget Windows laptops.

Cheaper MacBook Targets Budget Market

The budget MacBook will include a 13-inch display and use the A18 Pro chip, according to reports from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg. Apple will price the device between $699 and $750, offering an affordable alternative to current MacBook models. This cheaper MacBook 2026 is designed for customers seeking an entry-level MacBook with solid performance without the premium price tag.

Affordable Performance with iPhone Chip

The A18 Pro chip should provide sufficient performance for everyday use. While it won’t match the M-series chips in power, it will outperform many budget laptops on the market. Apple’s move aims to take on Chromebooks, especially in education and other price-sensitive markets.

Cost-Cutting Measures for Cheaper MacBook

Apple is expected to cut costs by reducing some features. The company may limit memory to 8GB, decrease the number of USB-C ports, and downgrade the display. Analysts predict Apple will ship five million to eight million units in 2026, aiming to capture the affordable laptop market.

Despite these adjustments, the cheaper MacBook 2026 will still provide good performance at a lower price. Apple wants to offer a more accessible option for those looking to join the Mac ecosystem.
