WhatsApp has started testing threaded message replies on iOS, a feature already familiar to Android users. The update was spotted in the latest TestFlight beta by WABetaInfo, indicating that a wider release is likely on the horizon.
What Are Threaded Replies?
Unlike inline replies, which appear within the main message stream, threaded replies allow users to create separate, focused message threads. This format keeps group conversations organized, especially when multiple discussions happen at once.
Here’s how it works:
- A reply counter appears on messages with responses
- Tapping it opens a dedicated thread view
- Users can see all replies tied to the original message
- Additional responses can be added in that thread
This setup improves clarity and conversation tracking, particularly in busy group chats.
iOS Beta Status
While not yet functional for all users, the threaded replies interface is now present in the iOS beta version of WhatsApp. This suggests the feature is in its final testing stages.
As with most WhatsApp features, expect a staggered rollout. More beta updates will likely arrive before the global launch.
