iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island: What’s Changing

iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island: What’s Changing

Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the iPhone 18 Pro. One key design question is the fate of the Dynamic Island. It was first introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro series. Most sources say that the iPhone 18 Pro will feature under-screen Face ID. However, there are conflicting rumors about how this will affect the Dynamic Island.

ShrimpApplePro’s Take on the iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island

Leaker “ShrimpApplePro” shared their belief on social media platform X. They claim that the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro will be “shorter.” This would happen as some Face ID components move under the screen. Only the front camera and infrared camera would remain visible. Keep in mind, “ShrimpApplePro” has been right before but also wrong, so we should be cautious.

What Other Rumors Suggest About the Dynamic Island’s Future

The Information reported last month that the iPhone 18 Pro’s front camera would shift to the top-left corner. This move could remove the pill-shaped cutout. However, ShrimpApplePro argues that the Dynamic Island will shrink but not disappear. YouTube channel Front Page Tech also created a mock-up showing a smaller Dynamic Island along with the front camera.

Under-Screen Face ID: The Likely Reality

The rumors about the Dynamic Island are mixed, but there is strong consensus on one thing: under-screen Face ID. A report from South Korea’s ETNews reveals that the iPhone 18 Pro will likely use under-screen infrared technology from Samsung. This will allow Face ID to function without using visible space on the front of the device.

LTPO+ Display Technology for Better Battery Life

In addition to the Face ID upgrades, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to have an improved LTPO+ display. The new LTPO+ technology should be more power-efficient than the current LTPO displays in the iPhone 17 series. This will likely lead to better battery life for users.

The iPhone 18 Pro Release Date and What We Can Expect

Apple plans to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models in September. While we await official details, we can expect more clarity on the design changes. This includes the under-screen Face ID and a potential shift in the Dynamic Island.
